AI Ethicist
Establishes and enforces ethical standards to ensure artificial intelligence systems are fair, transparent, and responsible in their development and deployment
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement ethical guidelines and standards for AI development and deployment
- Identify and manage potential risks associated with AI projects and play a crucial role in system design phases
- Collaborate with legal, research, engineering, and executive stakeholders to ensure ethical compliance
- Monitor AI technologies for ethical compliance and provide ongoing guidance throughout development cycles
- Stay up-to-date with research and developments in AI ethics, algorithmic fairness, and transparency
- Present findings and recommendations to company leadership and contribute to academic publications
- Review and analyze research materials, patents, and technical documentation for ethical implications
Skills & Tools:
- Deep knowledge of ethical theories and principles (especially as related to AI)
- Experience with AI/ML implementation and deployment processes
- Research experience in algorithmic fairness, accountability, transparency, and explainability
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with ability to identify ethical issues
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams (engineering, legal, product, compliance)
- Academic background in philosophy, ethics, or related field (Master's or PhD preferred)
- Experience with active inference, free energy principle, or distributed ML (preferred)
- Familiarity with privacy, auditability, explainability, and bias mitigation in AI
