Machine Learning Engineer for Automated Optical Inspection
Builds computer vision models to detect and classify manufacturing defects in quantum computing devices and other precision hardware systems
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and deploy optical defect detection and classification machine learning models for quantum device manufacturing pipelines
- Create platforms for developing, evaluating, and deploying computer vision models in real-world production environments
- Establish active learning pipelines that improve model performance through human feedback and continuous refinement
- Work directly with scientists and engineers to understand manufacturing data and propose frameworks for actionable quality metrics
- Implement design proposals for ML systems while taking ownership of software stack stability and quality
- Apply emerging Generative AI technologies to solve complex problems in manufacturing data exploration and analysis
- Collaborate with fabrication teams to accelerate device manufacturing through automated quality assurance processes
Skills & Tools:
- Production machine learning deployment experience with computer vision models
- Computer vision frameworks and optical inspection technologies
- Active learning and human-in-the-loop ML pipeline development
- Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK)
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) models with generative AI in production
- Full software development lifecycle including testing, operations, and scaling
- Automation development for large-scale problem solving
- System design patterns, reliability, and scaling considerations
- Cross-functional collaboration with research scientists and engineers
